RO Membranes
Reverse OsmosisCurrently for reverse osmosis process, 8-in. diameter, 40-in. long spiral-wound modules are the type most commonly used. Larger and smaller modules have been produced by many manufacturers but the 40×8 inch size is still the most common used size for these modules.
Multiple of these modules are housed and connected inside a fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FGRP) tube (commonly called pressurized/membrane shell). Depending on the design, these shells will be in series and parallel configurations to make the most out of the system. These module elements can be removed from the pressure vessels and exchanged as needed (depend on operation intensity). A typical spiral-wound 40×8 membrane module will produce 30-37 m3/day (8000–10000 gal/day) of permeate, so for example a skid with 75-modules will have roughly the capacity of about 2650 m3/day (700000 gal/day).
In Clariphex, we have wide range of RO membrane modules that each will be suitable in certain situations.
